Estimates are the foundation for pricing and presenting work in Feldy. Each estimate contains the scope and pricing for a project and can be opened as a proposal for the homeowner. A project can have multiple estimates, including multiple active estimates. Feldy uses the sum of all active estimates as the project’s value, and updates that value immediately when estimate totals or active status change.

How estimates and proposals work together

In Feldy, creating an estimate also creates the associated proposal. An estimate is where you build and manage:
  • Pricing items
  • Groups
  • Quantities
  • Unit costs
  • Markups
  • Discounts
  • Pricing options
  • Scope of work
The proposal is the homeowner-facing experience used to review and present that estimate. You can open the proposal from the estimate at any time by selecting View Proposal.
Each estimate has one associated proposal, and every estimate can be opened as a proposal.

Ways to create an estimate

You can create an estimate in three ways.

Use a template

Start from one or more reusable Pricing Templates configured by your organization. Each selected template creates its own pricing option.

Generate with AI

Describe the work you want to estimate and optionally provide one project source, such as photos, a PDF, or an AI Job Walkthrough. Feldy uses that information to build the initial estimate.

Start from scratch

Create an empty pricing table and add pricing items, groups, quantities, costs, markups, and discounts manually. For step-by-step instructions, see Create an estimate.

Estimate building blocks

Estimates are built from reusable pricing components.

Pricing items

A pricing item is an individual material, labor charge, fee, allowance, or other estimate entry. Pricing items can be:
  • Selected from the organization’s Pricing Catalog.
  • Added as custom items directly in an estimate.
  • Configured with quantities, units, costs, markups, waste, and measurement mappings.

Groups

Groups organize related pricing items into sections. Examples include:
  • Materials
  • Labor
  • Tear-off
  • Shingles
  • Ventilation
Groups can come from the Pricing Catalog or be created directly in an estimate.

Pricing Templates

Pricing Templates are reusable estimate structures configured by administrators. A template can include predefined pricing items and groups. Users can select one or more templates when creating an estimate.

Pricing options

Pricing options let you present multiple versions of the estimate, such as:
  • Good, Better, and Best
  • Repair and replacement
  • Standard and premium
  • Different material packages
Each pricing option has its own pricing table, scope of work, and total. For more information, see Pricing options.

General and roofing estimates

Feldy supports both general and roofing estimate workflows.

General projects

General projects can use the full estimate workflow, including:
  • Templates
  • AI-generated estimates
  • Custom pricing items
  • Groups
  • Discounts
  • Pricing options
  • Homeowner View
  • Proposals
General projects do not include roofing measurement sources or measurement-based quantity mappings.

Roofing-enabled projects

Roofing-enabled projects include all general estimate features, plus roofing-specific functionality such as:
  • Connecting an estimate to a roofing measurement source.
  • Mapping pricing item quantities to roof area, edge lengths, or counts.
  • Applying coverage and waste to measurement-based quantities.
  • Generating roofing measurements with AI 3D.
  • Converting an estimate into a scope of work, material list, work order, or invoice.
A roofing organization can create either a roofing-enabled project or a general project. Roofing-specific estimate features depend on the project, not only the organization.
For more information, see Use roof measurements in an estimate.

Create and edit estimates on web and mobile

Users can create, edit, and present estimates from:
  • The Feldy web platform
  • The Feldy mobile app for iOS and Android
The available capabilities are the same at a high level, but navigation and screen layout differ between web and mobile.
Pricing Catalog and Pricing Template settings are available only on the Feldy web platform.
All users can create and edit estimates on projects they have access to.

Present an estimate

Use Homeowner View to preview and control what the homeowner sees. You can configure:
  • Whether scope of work appears.
  • Whether pricing details are shown.
  • Whether the homeowner sees all pricing items or only groups.
  • Whether item prices, group prices, or only the total are displayed.
  • Whether calculations such as quantity and unit cost appear.
The estimate is always available from the proposal’s Quote tab and may also appear as a page within the proposal. For more information, see Review and present an estimate.

Manage organization pricing

Administrators can configure reusable pricing from Estimate Settings in the Feldy web platform. Estimate Settings includes:
  • Pricing Catalog items
  • Pricing groups
  • Pricing Templates
  • Default markup
  • Tax settings
  • Roofing measurement mappings
For more information, see Estimate Settings.
