# interior 3D scans

> Capture interior spaces as 3D scans that Feldy can measure and turn into structured project data.

Interior 3D Scans let field teams capture the dimensions and layout of an interior space using a supported iPhone or iPad.

As the user moves through the property, Feldy identifies floors, walls, rooms, doors, windows, and other openings. When the scan is complete, Feldy creates a structured interior model with a 2D floor plan and measurement data that can be used throughout the project.

Interior 3D Scans are intentionally focused on **capture and measurement**. Feldy does not provide an interior-design editor, furniture catalog, or room-decoration tool within this workflow.

## What Interior 3D Scans capture

Depending on the space and device, an interior scan can capture:

The resulting measurements are saved to the project’s **Measurements** section.

## Start an Interior 3D Scan

To begin a scan:

1. Open the Feldy field app.
2. Open the quick-action menu.
3. Select **AI Interior Scans**.
4. Choose the project where the scan should be saved.
5. Position yourself near the entrance of the space.
6. Select **Start scan**.
7. Move your device slowly around the room.
8. Continue through connected rooms when they are part of the same measurement area.
9. Select **Done** when the space has been captured.
10. Review the generated floor plan and measurements.
11. Save the scan to the project.

Feldy processes the captured space and creates an interior measurement record.

## Scan the space

Move slowly and keep the device pointed toward the walls, floor, corners, doors, and windows.

Feldy displays detected surfaces and boundaries while the scan is in progress. This helps you understand which parts of the room have already been captured.

For the best result:

* Walk at a steady pace.
* Capture every wall from more than one position.
* Point the device toward the floor and ceiling edges.
* Move around large furniture when possible.
* Capture corners clearly.
* Pause briefly near doors and windows.
* Avoid moving too quickly between rooms.
* Keep the space well lit.
* Revisit any area that appears incomplete.

You do not need to scan every object in the room. The primary goal is to capture the room geometry, floor boundaries, walls, and openings.

## Take reference photos during a scan

Users can take photos while completing an Interior 3D Scan.

The photos captured during the scan appear in a tray at the bottom of the scanning screen. This lets the field user confirm which views have already been documented without leaving the scan.

Reference photos can be used to capture:

* Cabinets and built-ins

To take a reference photo:

1. Select the camera control during the scan.
2. Capture the desired area.
3. Continue scanning.
4. Review the photo in the bottom tray.
5. Select a thumbnail to view or remove it.
6. Select the camera tile to add another photo.

The photos remain connected to the interior scan and the project.

## Complete and process the scan

After selecting **Done**, Feldy processes the captured geometry.

Processing may include:

* Building the 2D floor plan
* Preparing the measurement summary

Review the result before relying on it for estimating or ordering materials.

## Find an Interior 3D Scan

Completed scans are stored in the project’s **Measurements** section.

Each scan card can display:

* Scan name
* Total floor area
* Number of measurement parameters
* Creation date and time
* Feldy-generated status

Open a scan to view its measurements and floor plan.

## Review measurement results

The measurement page can include summary values such as:

* Floor-surface count

Additional room-level measurements may be shown below the summary.

Feldy-generated values may be locked to preserve the original scan result. When an adjustment is required, duplicate the measurement as a manual measurement and edit the copy.

## View the floor plan

Each completed scan includes a **Floor plan** section.

The floor plan can display:

* Room boundaries
* Room names
* Room dimensions
* Overall width and length
* Doors
* Windows
* Wall locations
* Floor layout
* Connected spaces

Use the floor-plan viewer to:

* Zoom in or out
* Expand the plan
* Review individual rooms

The floor plan is intended for measurement and documentation. It is not an interior-design canvas.

Use clear names that help office and field users understand what was captured.
